FLO Retailing and Azadea Group are considering the possibility of acquiring the Decathlon chain of stores in Russia. Currently, both companies are considering two options for the deal: the buyout of the entire chain of stores followed by relaunching under the franchise model, or the buyout with the subsequent closure of some stores.
The decision regarding the method of acquisition will be made after conducting all necessary marketing and financial studies. However, it is not expected that the deal will be realized before the fall of 2022.
It is worth noting that Decathlon is one of the largest global retailers of sports goods. Today, the company’s chain of stores is present in more than 50 countries around the world. However, in Russia, the company has not been able to establish itself in the market and has faced significant issues related to poor logistics and low store efficiency.
